I opted for the more expensive ones (about $115 shipped) that seemed to give a bit more "stretch". I really like them. Easy to mount, perfect fit. You can see them at George's site, linked in Jim's post. Ideally I'd have preferred forward controls, but they're are so pricey I decided they passed the point of diminishing returns, and they don't reach out as far as the highway bar.
Mine's an '87 also; bought it two months ago with less than 9000 miles; already got it pushing 11K! So that gives you an idea how much I like mine...
